Gritty to Pretty 2026

Since 2015, Downtown Halifax Business Commission (DHBC), has supported local artists through the Gritty to Pretty Placemaking Grant Program, helping to transform Downtown Halifax through vibrant, community-driven public art.

I received a grant through this program in 2026 to create a picnic table mural that is now in use at peace and friendship park in Halifax, NS.

The Gathering

or "the Gullthering" - If you like a pun.

Keeping with the theme of peace and friendship the tabletop features a community of seagulls bringing their finds for a potluck picnic on citadel hill.

I wanted to create something cheerful & bright for a public space, inviting people to sit and enjoy.
